Del boy ... happy birthday to you! I bet you thought you'd be taking it easy in your 30s ... no chance.

Now only some 9 days to go - like you and all the others, i'm alternating between HIGH and LOW. I'm ready and then i'm nowhere near ready.

This time next week we're in Frankfurter and the craic will be might ;-)

This taper lark isn't so easy .. .i feel i need to be training - little or no cycling for the last two weeks, i seem to have been tapering for the last fortnight in Salou.

Hope the aero helmet is a nice colour...

All the girls always said that you were extra-ordinary quick in getting the kit off in the bedroom. Nice to see all that hard work paying off now with this sport of ours!

'King of the hills' - bah humbug, there's not enough hills on our IMDE route!

How do you break up your 5k swims - or do you ? Its hardly just belt up and down for 4,567 lenghts ?

Hi Delboy,

be careful with too much training in advance of the Big Week in Lanza ... four weeks hard in a row is more than enough for any more mortal. I hope to have a rest week / recovery week before we head so that i'm raring to go onsite.

Great session last Sunday ... really enjoyed the two sessions with the balls on the table, ears pinned back and going for it. Pity i lost the details on the first one, but for the Kilcock leg i have an average of some 38k for the 11 clicks.

Keep up the blogging of course ;-)

So what accounts for the improvement for the running off the bike - practice ? or perhaps didn't quite push it on the bike itself. Talked to a guy some weeks ago who had a 5.30 odd bike split last year - surprising himeself - but he had close to a 5.30 run split afterwards during which he really suffered.

The right pacing on the bike i think will be crucial.

Man - you and your 12.5 hours and 4k swims... though my 2k timetrial last week was my longest swim ever as well, so perhaps not so bad (ignoring the times of course!)

Its still going well for man - bravo!

Impressive times and distances logged this week again young man.

"after a whole I did a nice 2400m swim" ... that's it i'm giving up swimming - and there's me thinking i'm great getting to 2k for the first time ever in one continuous swim!
